About
Tom Ventura started lessons as a child in New York City. He began on the drums, then the guitar, and finally the piano. He furthered his studies in San Francisco when he went to college at the University of San Francisco. Tom also began playing publicly in various venues and bands but had the most success when he moved to the Southwest in the Santa Fe area.
Tom played both live and in recording studios where he ended up on the radio with two different bands that he was playing in. He also played the piano at solo venues where he would perform mostly jazz pieces. He met his wife to be, Brenda, out west, and they soon married and had a child. His wife Brenda was from Maine, and they decided to move the brand new family back to Brenda's roots here in the Belfast area.
Immediately Tom began performing at various venues with the top local talent in the area as well as working many solo gigs. At the same time he went into teaching full-time, first as a private music instructor, and then as a music educator in two local school systems. Eventually his student load got so large that he stopped teaching in the public schools and went to private teaching only. This is when Ventura School of Music was born.
